Our Story
Corazon del sol crafts captivating Malbec and Grenache-based wines that capture the best of Argentina’s unique, high altitude terroir. Cultivated in the Uco Valley, which is situated in Mendoza on the eastern side of the Andes Mountains, our vines enjoy over 300 days of sunshine a year.
History
Early Spring 2008
Dr. Revana visits Mendoza for the first time and meets the Argentinean winemaking Icon Santiago Achaval (Achaval-Ferrer) a pioneer of single-vineyard, old-vine Malbec.
Late Spring 2008
The legendary ‘Block 13’ original vines of Malbec and Cabernet Franc are planted in a remote part of Uco Valley along the ancient riverbeds of the ‘Arroyo Grande’ that would become the epicenter of the Los Chacayes IG.
2009
Dr. Revana and Santiago plant the first single acre of Grenache in all of Los Chacayes and the first acre of Mourvèdre in all of Uco Valley (68,000 acres of vineyards), along with one acre of Syrah from cuttings brought from hill of Hermitage (Northern Rhone).
2009
Dr. Revana plants his second vineyard ‘block 22’, a single acre each of Malbec, Syrah and the Estate’s only acre of Cabernet Sauvignon and only 800 meters from the original vines of ‘block 22’, but in a markedly different soil with more prominent rock.
2011
The first vintage of Corazon del Sol is harvested. Three wines are produced, ‘Uco Valley’ Malbec, ‘Soleado’ (Bordeaux blend) and the infamous ‘Luminoso’, becoming the first ever Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre ever produced in Argentina.
2012
The Second harvest of Corazon del Sol brings the introduction of the ‘Gran Reserva’ Malbec (a selection of the top 6 barrels aged for 24 months).
2013
Dr. Revana begins construction on Bodega Corazon Del Sol, becoming one of the founding wineries in the Los Chacayes sub zone of Uco Valley. He also plants a 6.1 acre vineyard ‘Block 6’ around the new winery.
The third vintage at Corazon del Sol also brings the introduction of ‘Block 13’ Cabernet Franc.
2014
The fourth vintage is the inaugural vintage produced in our Estate winery. The introduction of Corazon del Sol’s Black Label ‘Cab/Cab’ a co-fermentation from single acre vineyard blocks. Director of Sales - Carolina Fuller is Hired.
2015
Corazon del Sol opens the doors to host their first tastings as Dr. Revana recruits Carolina Fuller and Jeff Lewis to develop one of Mendoza’s top boutique winery experiences.
2016
A challenging El Niño vintage produces some of the most elegant, low alcohol wines in the history of Uco Valley. Creating the conditions for the ‘Luminoso’ to become predominantly Grenache based (leading to the grafting of 2 acres of Merlot over to Grenache). Assistant Winemaker Luciano Bastias
2017
Winemaker Cristian Moor joins the team during a benchmark vintage that led to a range of new wines produced from selections of extraordinary barrels. Including the ‘Block 13’ Grenache, Single Parcel Malbec series (Block 13, 22 and 6) along with the ultra exclusive ‘Inedito’ Malbec.

2019
2016 Gran Reserva Malbec scored 94 points and is listed as #74 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 List of 2019.
2021
2017 Gran Reserva Malbec is scored 95 points and is listed as #61 on Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 List of 2021.
