Rhone Varieties
Much like the Rhône Valley, Los Chacayes IG and the Uco Valley are known for their ability to grow complex and elegant wines. Combining varietal and local expression with winemaking techniques, our team strives to achieve a wine of excellence. In this pursuit, we were the first winery in Argentina to produce a GSM blend and we continue to be inspired by the terroir exhibited in these wines.
Grenache
Grenache is the unsung hero of elegant red wines – medium-bodied, fresh, and complex. This drinkable red is a lighter option, while maintaining sophisticated flavor and texture. We choose to age this wine in 1,000 liter untoasted foudre to preserve its fruity characteristics and freshness.
Syrah
Syrah is quite well suited to life in Los Chacayes. The limestone component of our vineyard’s soil emulates the elegant influence of Rhône valley’s own unique terroir while expressing its own distinctive profile. With only 1,000 bottles produced per year, we are thrilled to cultivate this variety that is rarely grown in Argentina.
GSM
Modeled after the most famous blend of the Rhône Valley, this GSM was the first ever produced in Argentina. We have made this prestigious red wine in Los Chacayes since 2011. Its versatility pairs well with any meal. The three varieties - Grenache, Syrah and Mouvèdre - are all planted consecutively in the vineyard, co-fermented and aged 12 months in barrel. A fresh, complex and delicate red wine, second and third use barrels are utilized to impart a delicate structure while maintaining its lush acidity.
